After installation, the most striking feature of this terrazzo is its red base. The cement is tinted to a brick or dark red tone that sets the overall palette. It carries two completely different aggregates: extremely fine black mineral sand measuring just 0.3 to 0.5 cm, barely larger than a grain of rice; and white natural marble chips ranging from 0.5 to 3 cm, showing a clear size difference.

The black sand is numerous and densely scattered throughout the red cement. From a distance it reads like dark warp and weft threads woven into red cloth, toning down the boldness of the red. The white chips act like scattered stones, with the largest approaching 3 cm and the smallest just half a centimeter, nested among the fine sand and serving as bright focal points. Because white contrasts sharply with red and black, these chips naturally draw the eye. Crushed natural marble retains irregular edges—some rounded, some angular—each with its own texture.

It is an inorganic terrazzo using cement as the binder, not resin. Once set, the cement structure is dense and hard, with higher compression and wear resistance than organic terrazzo, suitable for high-traffic areas. However, cement has capillary pores, so the finished surface must be sealed through crystallization or waxing; otherwise liquids can penetrate and leave stains. Daily cleaning requires only a damp mop, and with proper maintenance it can last for many years.

The pairing of a red base with black sand and white chips is fairly bold. It suits dining rooms, living rooms, and commercial floors such as themed restaurants, showrooms, and retail stores. The red itself brings warmth and impact, the black sand adds steadiness, and the white chips brighten the overall surface. Large slabs can be cut to size, minimizing joints. After laying, crystallization treatment is required before use, and periodic waxing improves long-term performance.

In plain terms, this is a cement-based terrazzo with a red base, black sand, and white stone. The coarse and fine aggregates are paired for contrast, the colors are vivid, the hardness is high, and proper maintenance is essential.
