MO-24 G16gray

This terrazzo uses gray Portland cement as its base, with two types of aggregate of different sizes embedded on the surface. One is white natural mineral chips measuring 0.5 to 1 cm, roughly the size of mung beans to soybeans. The other is finer black mineral sand, only about 0.3 cm, like fine grit. Both materials are densely packed, covering almost the entire surface.

Visually, the white chips are the main visual element, forming distinct light-colored dots against the gray base. The black sand is finer, settling between the white chips and in the gaps of the gray cement, like powdered ink scattered across the surface, grounding the lightness of the white and giving the surface a steadier feel. Because of the coarse-and-fine pairing, the floor reads as a delicate gray-and-white texture from a distance; only up close can you make out the outlines of the larger chips and the distribution of the fine sand. These aggregates are crushed and screened directly from natural minerals, with rough surfaces and edges retaining the natural shapes of fracture, lacking the smoothness of artificial polishing. Cement paste fills all voids solidly. After grinding and polishing, both coarse and fine aggregates sit level with the cement face, leaving the surface as a single flat plane without depressions or protrusions.

It is an inorganic, cement-based terrazzo. Once set, the slab is dense and heavy in the hand, with hardness and compressive strength exceeding those of resin-based boards, suitable for high-traffic areas. However, cement naturally has capillary pores. Without crystallization sealing, water and oil stains can penetrate and leave marks. Therefore, crystallization treatment is mandatory after installation, followed by periodic waxing. Daily cleaning requires only a damp mop.

The palette of a gray base with white chips and fine black sand is neutral and calm, matching various decorative styles. At home, it works for living room and dining room floors, as well as kitchen countertops. In commercial spaces such as offices, showrooms, retail stores, and school corridors, it reads clean and enduring. Large slabs can be cut to site dimensions, minimizing joints. Once laid and properly maintained, it is ready for normal use.
