This terrazzo uses deep gray cement as its base, with a cool, heavy tone like the sea on an overcast day. The surface is densely embedded with white mineral chips measuring 0.5 to 1 cm, forming a fine, dotted texture against the dark gray background. Occasionally, a fragment of natural shell appears, sparsely scattered among the chips, carrying a subtle pearlescent sheen.

The white mineral chips are fine-grade aggregates, irregular in shape—some edges worn smooth, others still sharp from fracturing. They create a clear light-dark contrast with the deep gray cement, yet because the chips are small and evenly distributed, the surface does not read as cluttered. Instead, it carries a texture reminiscent of a starry sky or fine snow settling on the ground. The natural shell fragments are deliberate accents, thinner and brighter than the white chips, casting faint iridescence under light and adding a touch of liveliness to the steady gray palette.

It is an inorganic terrazzo, bound by ordinary Portland cement, formed through casting, curing, and grinding. Once set, the slab is dense and heavy in the hand, with hardness and compressive strength exceeding those of resin-based organic terrazzo. Laid as flooring, it withstands foot traffic and abrasion, suitable for shopping malls, offices, and home living rooms. However, cement naturally has capillary pores, so the surface must be sealed by crystallization; otherwise water and oil stains can penetrate. Periodic waxing is also needed to maintain surface luster. Daily cleaning is straightforward—just wipe with a damp mop.

The pairing of a deep gray base with white chips is calm and restrained, while the faint glow of the shell fragments suits modern minimalist or industrial-leaning spaces. At home, it works for living room, dining room, and corridor floors, as well as kitchen countertops. In commercial settings such as showrooms, cafés, bookshops, and design studios, it creates an atmosphere that is steady yet detailed. Large slabs can be cut to site dimensions, minimizing joints, and are ready for use after crystallization treatment.
