MO-11 Milanwhite

This inorganic terrazzo uses white Portland cement as its base, embedded with two types of aggregate: white natural marble fragments measuring 1 to 3 cm, and finer white and black mineral sands. All three materials belong to the white color family, but differ in texture and scale, creating internal layers within the surface.

The 1–3 cm white marble fragments are the visual mainstays. Crushed from natural stone, they retain irregular shapes—some with thick edges, others with thin, sharp fractures—with natural veining visible on the surface. The gaps between these fragments are filled by black and white mineral sands: the white sand blends into the base, while the black sand acts as tiny ink dots, forming faint dark patterns across the white ground. Because of the large size difference, the floor reads as nearly solid white from a distance; only up close can you distinguish the outlines of the large fragments and the distribution of the fine sand.

As an inorganic terrazzo bound by cement, it is cast, cured, and ground to finish. Once set, the cement structure is dense and heavy, with good compressive strength and surface hardness, suitable for high-traffic areas such as living rooms, corridors, and shopping malls. However, cement naturally has capillary pores, so the surface must be sealed by crystallization; otherwise liquids can penetrate and leave stains. Crystallization treatment is required after installation, followed by periodic waxing. Daily cleaning requires only a damp mop.

This nearly all-white surface is quiet and versatile. At home, it works for living room and dining room floors, as well as kitchen countertops and bathroom walls, brightening the space. In commercial settings such as showrooms, offices, retail stores, and galleries, it reads simple and generous, pairing easily with various furnishings. Large slabs can be cut to site dimensions, minimizing joints. Once laid and properly maintained, it is ready for use.
