MO-27 Dajingray

This terrazzo uses gray Portland cement as its base, embedded with three types of aggregate. The main components are white and gray natural mineral chips measuring 1 to 3 cm, densely distributed; additionally, black sand measuring 0.1 to 0.5 cm is mixed evenly throughout the cement paste like powdered ink.

In terms of surface effect, the 1–3 cm white and gray mineral chips are the visual mainstays. Unlike smooth marble, these chips have a rougher texture, with edges retaining irregular shapes from natural crushing—some blunt and rounded, others angular. The white chips brighten the gray base, while the gray chips blend naturally into the background. Their dense interlacing creates a fine, dotted texture across the surface. The 0.1–0.5 cm black sand is even finer, settling between the larger chips and in cement seams. From a distance it adds a faint dark undertone to the gray-white surface; up close, these tiny black dots become visible, grounding the overall tone and preventing it from feeling too light.

It is an inorganic, cement-based terrazzo. Once set, the slab is dense and heavy, with hardness and compressive strength exceeding those of resin-based organic terrazzo, suitable for high-traffic areas such as living rooms, corridors, and shopping malls. However, cement naturally has capillary pores. Without crystallization sealing, liquids can penetrate and leave stains. Therefore, crystallization treatment is required after installation, followed by periodic waxing to maintain surface luster and stain resistance. Daily cleaning requires only a damp mop.

The palette of a gray base with white and gray chips and fine black sand is calm and neutral, matching various decorative styles. At home, it works for living room and dining room floors, as well as kitchen countertops. In commercial spaces such as offices, showrooms, retail stores, and school corridors, it reads clean and enduring. Large slabs can be cut to site dimensions, minimizing joints. Once laid and properly maintained, it is ready for normal use.
