MO-07 Violetpink

This terrazzo uses pink Portland cement as its base, tinted to a soft, non-garish hue. The surface is embedded with red and gray natural mineral chips measuring 0.5 to 1 cm, classified as fine aggregate, densely scattered across the pink base.

Unlike marble, these mineral chips carry no ornate veining, but their texture is rougher and more honest. The red chips are warm, sitting within the same color family as the pink base to create shifts in depth; the gray chips are cooler, balancing the warm palette so the overall effect does not become overly sweet. Because the chips are small, the surface reads from a distance as a fine, dotted texture, like pink fabric woven with red and gray threads; up close, the natural outline of each chip becomes visible, some edges rounded, others still sharp from crushing. Cement paste fills the gaps solidly. After grinding and polishing, all aggregate and cement sit on the same plane, leaving the surface flat with no height difference, solid underfoot.

It is an inorganic, cement-based terrazzo. Once set, the slab is dense and heavy in the hand, with hardness and compressive strength exceeding those of resin-based organic terrazzo, suitable for high-traffic areas. However, cement naturally has capillary pores. Without crystallization sealing, water and oil stains can penetrate and leave marks. Therefore, crystallization treatment is mandatory after installation, followed by periodic waxing. Daily cleaning requires only a damp mop.

The palette of a pink base with fine red and gray chips is gentle and layered. At home, it works for bedroom, children’s room, and walk-in closet floors, as well as bathroom walls and vanity countertops. In commercial spaces such as dessert shops, flower shops, beauty salons, and women’s boutiques, the approachable color helps people relax. Large slabs can be cut to site dimensions, minimizing joints. Once laid and properly maintained, it is ready for normal use.
