This terrazzo uses black cement as its base, embedded with white and black natural marble chips ranging from 1 cm to 5 cm. The white chips stand out sharply against the black background, scattered densely or sparsely across the surface. The black chips nearly merge into the base, their outlines and textures only visible up close or when light hits at an angle.

The size span is considerable: 1 cm pieces are like small pebbles, while 5 cm ones are nearly half a fist wide. All are crushed natural marble, irregular in shape—some edges worn smooth, others still sharp from fracturing. Once the cement paste fills the gaps and the surface is ground and polished, it becomes a flat plane, solid underfoot without noticeable unevenness.

It is an inorganic, cement-based terrazzo, different from resin-based organic terrazzo. After setting, the cement slab is hard and dense, with stronger compression and wear resistance than resin boards, suitable for high-traffic areas like shopping malls and hotel lobbies. However, cement naturally has capillary pores. Without sealing, water and oil can penetrate and leave marks. Therefore, crystallization treatment is required after installation, and periodic waxing is needed for maintenance. Daily cleaning is simple—just wipe with a damp mop.

The pairing of a black base with black and white chips is classic and versatile. In homes, it lends a steady feel to living room and dining room floors. In commercial spaces such as offices, showrooms, and retail stores, it is widely used because it hides dirt well and remains timeless. Large slabs can be cut to site dimensions, minimizing joints. Once laid and properly treated, it is ready for normal use.
