The chips range from one to three centimeters, varying in shape after natural crushing—some nearly oval, others still sharp from quarrying. Green chips sit close to the base tone, reading as shifts within the same color family; yellow chips read warm and gentle against the green; pink chips are usually fewer in number, their soft tone serving as a balancing element. The three colors intermingle, held in place by resin that fills the gaps solidly. After grinding, the surface is a flat plane without noticeable unevenness, feeling solid underfoot and not trapping dust.

In hardness, normal household foot traffic and moving furniture leave no obvious marks, and it can handle commercial footfall as well.
