MA-31 Zimagray

This organic terrazzo uses light gray as its base, with the surface embedded with 0.5 to 1 cm natural mineral chips in black and white, arranged alternately and evenly. From afar it looks like fine raindrops falling on a gray canvas; up close you can make out the natural outline of each mineral—some sharply angular, others rounded by water erosion—all set flush in resin to form a level surface.

The chips are on the smaller side, classifying this as fine-aggregate terrazzo. Black chips draw the eye inward, white chips brighten select spots, and together they create a natural rhythm of light and shadow against the gray ground. Because the chips are similar in size and evenly dense, the floor shows no jarring leaps, instead presenting a fragmented, uniform texture suited to spaces that want understated quality without resorting to plain solid-color tile.

As an organic terrazzo, it uses eco-friendly resin as the binder, vacuum-casting the black and white mineral chips into form. The fluidity of the resin ensures full filling between chips, yielding a high-density, low-water-absorption finished product. After grinding and polishing, the mineral chips sit flush with the resin surface, feeling smooth to the touch with no unevenness. Daily footprints and water stains can be cleaned with a mop or damp cloth; no waxing or special maintenance is required.

Physically, the resin matrix gives the slab a degree of flexibility, making it less prone to chipping or cracking during transport and installation. The surface hardness is sufficient to withstand foot traffic in both residential and commercial settings. A stain-resistant layer slows pigment penetration, so it can be laid in damp areas like kitchens and bathrooms. The gray base itself is more forgiving of dust than pure white, so maintenance can be less frequent.

In practice, this terrazzo suits continuous spaces like living rooms, corridors, and open kitchens, and can also be used for bathroom walls or washbasin countertops. In commercial settings, it fits offices, casual dining spots, fashion boutiques, and other places that call for restrained color palettes. Large-format slabs reduce joint lines, and cut pieces can be used for vertical applications like islands and window sills.

Installation is not complicated. After laying, no lengthy curing is needed; basic cleaning is enough to put it into use. If gloss adjustment is needed, subsequent polishing can achieve matte or semi-gloss finishes.
